SSC CGL

SSC CGL is an exam conducted by Staff selection Commission for recruitment of Group “B” and Group “C” posts in various Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations in the Government of India. It conducts CGL exam every year for the post of thousands of vacancies and lakhs of students appear for the most sought after government exam owing to its high emolument and benefits.  If you are preparing or planning to prepare for the exam you should have complete knowledge of the exam. e.g. SSC Pattern, Syllabus, Educational qualification, age limit previous year cut offs , number of vacancies and many more important information

Exam Pattern

SSC CGL. consists of four Tier exams and to qualify for the exam a candidate is required to clear all or required exams. The Tier I exam is Computer Based Examination and  qualifying in nature and only candidates clearing the Tier I exam can appear for the Tier II exam.

Tier I Examination

Tier I exam consist of four sections comprising 25 questions each section and total time for the exam is 60 minutes. Each correct answer weightage is of 2 marks.

*In Tier-I, there is negative marking of ¼ mark for each wrong answer.

 

Tier II Examination

Only candidate who has obtained cut off marks in Tier I exam are eligible to appear for the Tier II exam.  Tier two exam consist of two sections namely Quantitative Abilities and English Language and Comprehension.

There will be ¼ negative marking for the wrong answer in Tier II exam

*In Tier-II, Paper-III will be for those candidates who apply for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO)

*In Tier-II, Paper-IV will be for those candidates who apply for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.

 

Tier III Examination

It consist of Pen and Paper Mode (Descriptive paper) in which a candidate is asked to write essay/letter/application in stipulated time (60 minutes)

Tier IV

(B) General Awareness:  This section is designed to test a candidates’ general awareness of the ambiance around him and its application to society. It also includes questions on current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions implicitly or explicitly  related to India and its neighbouring countries particularly related to History, Culture, Geography, Economic s, General Policy & and of Scientific domain. (D) English Comprehension: This section is designed to test a candidates’ capability of comprehending correct usage of English. Under this section a candidate’s comprehension, grammar and vocabulary skills are tested.

The questions asked in Parts A, B, & D will be of a level commensurate with the essential qualification viz. Graduation and questions in Part-C will be of 10th standard level.

Note: Questions in Paper-I will be of Matriculation Level, Paper-II of 10+2 Level

 

Educational Qualification: The minimum educational qualification is  Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute. However, there are other education qualification for specific post.

 

Age Limit: There is no specific age criteria for the all the posts and age limit varies from post to post. However, the minimum age is 18 year and the maximum age is 32 year which imply if you are  above 18 year or below 32 year old you can appear for the exam. Beow is the list of post with age wise.
